After writing my first post on LBD – Little Black Dress I started to wonder about the male equivalent to it. I asked myself “what is the go-to outfit most men have in their wardrobes?”

I couldn’t come up with only one outfit so I Googled it to see if there was such a thing. Persons had different ideas as to what they thought it should be.
Some of the popular outfits were:
Tailored Black/Blue Suit
My first Male LBD Equivalent would have to be the Tailored Black Suit with a White Shirt.
My reason for saying that is – A Black Suit can fit into any occasion. From a Wedding or a Funeral to Work or Dinner.
For a casual occasion, the jacket and tie can be removed, shirt sleeves rolled up, a few top buttons opened and still look GQ.
White Dress Shirt and Dark Pants/Jeans.
My next go-to outfit for men, is a buttoned down shirt, preferably white but can be another color, and a pair of black or blue jeans. A white dress shirt can be worn on almost any occasion and when paired with a black or blue jeans makes the outfit go from casual to a more dressy look. A nice tie can be added depending on the occasion.
Navy Blue Blazer and Slacks/Jeans
Another basic, versatile clothing item found in Men’s Fashions is a Navy Blazer. A navy blazer like a black suit is a classic piece of clothing in gents fashion. It is a little less formal but still dressy. It will not go out of style.
It also looks good with almost anything, tailored slacks, chinos or Jeans. Button down shirts, turtle-neck sweaters, polo shirts, or even t-shirts. It is perfect for the weekends. You can never go wrong with a blue blazer.
There are many different opinions on what a man’s go-to outfit is. Some of these ideas are:
Button down long sleeve shirt and khakis
Blue or black jeans and a black or white T-shirt
Nice pair of jeans and a long-sleeved white cotton shirt, with the sleeves, rolled up a bit
Sports coat with slacks and a button-down shirt
In my opinion, there’s not a one piece of clothing for men that can be considered as the equivalent to the little black dress. Read my post here. Little Black Dress
